I am a clay sculptor in upstate NY. In my work I try to tell the stories of people or issues I read about in the paper or hear about in the news. they may only get fleeting media attention, but I hope that by making them as beautiful as possible in sculpture, you will want to know more about them or about the issue they represent. I am influenced my Romanesque, medieval and Renaissance work as well as figures of Buddha. I build from coils of clay, working from the bottom up. I color them with engobes and oxides, fire them to cone 6 in an electric kiln, and sometimes add paint and found objects.
I have work in the Oakroom Artist's show, Three Painters and a Sculptor, at First Unitarian Society in Schenectady, NY until November 30th. It's a great show!
